Founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1953, Douglas Laboratories joined the Atrium Innovations family in 2005.

Embodying true entrepreneurial spirit, Doug continues to develop this family-grown company, which is founded on earning the trust of healthcare practitioners everyday through partnership, education and an unrelenting commitment to the manufacture of best-in-class, clinically proven natural supplement products.

Watching his dad follow his dream of owning a small dietary supplement company in Pennsylvania – at a time when there was little awareness about the benefits of supplements – Doug saw the potential for something big.

Inspired by his tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit, Doug teamed up with his dad in 1979 after graduating from Villanova University with a BSBA degree to create Douglas Labs, a new family company offering a line of science-based, direct-to-doctor natural health supplements. Surrounded by his world-class team of experts, Doug is Executive Chairman of the company, which has grown into one of the leaders in the industry, with facilities in the USA, The Netherlands, and Spain.

The decision to join Atrium was easy for Doug, largely because of the people, their complementary management styles and their shared vision of investing energies in the healthcare professional segment of the natural supplement industry. And so the family legacy lives on…

A generous man who gives of his time to volunteer and pass on knowledge, Doug is a member of WPO World Presidents’ Organization and is on the Board of Directors of the Cancer Caring Center in Pittsburgh along with the Advisory Board of Villanova Business School’s Center for Marketing and Public Policy, and Board member of CRN Council for Responsible Nutrition.

Knowing the importance of balancing hard work with fun, Doug is extremely active, and loves downhill skiing, weight-training, running, golf, wine and cooking. Doug resides in Pittsburgh with his wife and three children.
