Continued Strong Organic Growth – Record Quarterly Revenue and EBITDA

Quebec City (Quebec), May 13, 2013 – Atrium Innovations Inc. (TSX: ATB), (“Atrium” or “the Company”), a globally recognized leader in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of innovative, science-based natural health products endorsed by healthcare practitioners, today released its results for the quarter ended March 31, 2013.

First Quarter 2013 Highlights:
(All amounts are in US dollars.)

• Revenue organic growth of 8.7% over last year, to reach $119.5 million
• EBITDA of $23.4 million or 19.6% of revenues
• Diluted EPS of $0.42 for the quarter
• Operating cash flows before changes in non-cash working capital is $18.7 million
• In February 2013, creation of a joint venture in China to leverage core brands – FOSIUM Innovations

“We start 2013 on a strong note. Revenues and EBITDA are reaching record levels, reflecting our continued focus on expanding our brands’ organic growth as well as reaping some benefits from ongoing efforts on operational improvements and facilities optimization,” said Pierre Fitzgibbon, President and CEO. “Organic revenue growth was solid again in the Retail and HCP North America channels with increases of 18.8% and 8.0% over last year. Europe was up 1.7%, a satisfactory performance considering economic conditions.

“During 2013, we will continue to build on the strength of our brands in the marketplace and focus on improving our manufacturing process and efficiencies. In the context of today’s regulatory environment, we increasingly value the importance of our vertical integration, and that comparative advantage will benefit us greatly in the future,” concluded Mr. Fitzgibbon.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2013, Atrium recorded revenues of $119.5 million, representing an increase of 8.7%, compared to revenues of $110.0 million in 2012. The increase is mainly driven by the solid performance of the Retail and Healthcare Practitioners channels in North America with growth of 18.8% and 8.0%, respectively. The euro/USD exchange rate had no significant impact this quarter.

EBITDA for the quarter was $23.4 million or 19.6% of revenues compared to adjusted EBITDA of $23.0 million or 20.9% of revenues for the same period in 2012. The EBITDA’s increase of $0.4 million over last year is largely due to the increase in revenues and was partially offset by the larger overall contribution of the lower margin Retail channel.

Net income attributable to shareholders was $14.1 million in 2013 compared to $11.7 million in 2012, while net earnings per share on a diluted basis was $0.42, as compared to adjusted net earnings per share of $0.40 for the same period in 2012. Cash flows from operating activities before changes in non-cash working capital items and interest expenses were $18.7 million compared to adjusted cash flows from operating activities before changes in non-cash working capital items and interest expenses of $20.0 million in 2012.

During the quarter, under the NCIB (Normal Course Issuer Bid) program, the Company repurchased and cancelled 10,200 common shares for a total consideration of $0.1 million.

Atrium Innovations Extends Research Partnership with Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF)

Quebec City (Quebec), May 9, 2013 – Atrium Innovations Inc. (TSX: ATB) (“Atrium” or the “Company”), a globally recognized leader in the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of innovative, science-based natural health products, announced today that it has extended its research partnership with the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (“INAF”). In June 2011, Atrium launched a comprehensive applied clinical research program in collaboration with INAF at Université Laval in Quebec City. The original program was funded through the end of 2013.

“Based on the success and momentum of this program, we are pleased to announce that we have extended this collaboration until 2016,” said Pierre Fitzgibbon, President and CEO at Atrium Innovations. “We continue to see direct returns from this program in stimulating innovative product development, including the introduction of sixteen new products to date.”

Under the program, several ongoing studies are investigating small fruit polyphenols in glucose management and cognitive health, as well as the effects of enzymes on inflammation response, furthering a body of literature supporting the efficacy and mechanism of Wobenzym® brand systemic enzymes.

Adding further credibility to Atrium’s clinical research program, Dr. Benoit Lamarche, Director of the Clinical Nutrition Investigation Unit at INAF, recently received federal funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to study fish oils in the management of inflammation and cardiometabolic health in subjects at risk for heart disease. The clinical trial will utilize high potency fish oil preparations provided by Atrium.

“We believe that the proposed research is one of the most specific and comprehensive clinical trials to date comparing the impact of EPA and DHA on systemic and tissue-specific subclinical inflammation in both men and women,” said Dr. Lamarche, the Principal Investigator for the trial.

(TSX: ATB) (“Atrium” or the “Company”) announced today that a new director nominee will be included in the Management Proxy Circular of the Company for his election at the next Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on May 14, 2013. The new proposed nominee is Mr. Javier San Juan, President and Chief Executive Officer of L’Oreal Canada. Mr. San Juan has extensive expertise in product portfolio optimization, from production to marketing, an experience he can draw upon to support Atrium in its next phase of development. The new director will replace Mr. Yves Julien, who has decided not to present himself for re-election.

Mr. San Juan also contributes toward the excellent performance of the L’Oreal Canada manufacturing facility located in Montreal. Mr. San Juan had previously managed the Argentinean and Romanian subsidiaries of the L’Oreal Group after having held the position of Director of Finance and Operations of the Russian subsidiary from 1994 to 1998. Mr. San Juan began his international career at the head office of the pharmaceutical group Sandoz (now Novartis).

Shareholders of the Company will be asked to vote on the election of Mr. San Juan, as well as the re-election of the current directors of the Company, with the exception of Mr. Julien, at the Annual General Meeting on May 14, 2013. APRIL 2, 2013 – Sudbury, MA – Pure Encapsulations®, a leading manufacturer of research-based, hypo-allergenic nutritional supplements, is pleased to announce new research findings identifying specific pharmacologic actions on their proprietary fruit and vegetable based polyphenol blends. The study, entitled Anti-Inflammatory and Neuroactive Properties of Selected Fruit Extracts, was published in the Journal of Medicinal Food and is the result of a comprehensive research collaboration with Atrium Innovations and the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) based at Université Laval, Quebec, Canada.

Several Pure Encapsulations® formulations containing these unique polyphenol blends were recently introduced in the U.S. PhytoCardio, a combination of cranberry and blueberry extracts, is found in Cardio-C. PhytoMemory, a blend of strawberry, blueberry and spinach extracts, is found in PS-Plus and CogniMag. PhytoLongevity, a combination of the extracts found in both PhytoCardio and PhytoMemory, is featured in the longevity products RevitalAge™ and RevitalAge™ Ultra.*

Lead author Kelly C. Heim, Ph.D., Nutritional Pharmacologist at Pure Encapsulations®, commented on the implications of these findings, “Polyphenols are clinically valuable protective and therapeutic phytochemicals. As our team characterizes the molecular pharmacology and applications of novel, proprietary blends, a platform of evidence-based products continues to expand. Specifically, the results indicate that these particular polyphenol blends have specific molecular targets with potential relevance to cardiometabolic and neurological health. PhytoCardio was shown to inhibit IKK-β, which is involved in inflammatory gene expression.* PhytoMemory inhibited prolyl endopeptidase (PEP), which has been previously characterized as a promising therapeutic target for supporting learning, memory, and mood.*
